Licensing and Rights Policy

First: Copyright and Licensing

All research accepted for publication in the Journal of the College of Languages is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain the copyright to their scholarly work, while granting the journal the right of first publication.

Under this license, others may:

Read, download, and benefit from the research free of charge.

Copy, redistribute, and republish the research by any means or in any format.

Reuse, modify, or build upon the content for scholarly, educational, or research purposes.

Cite published research and reuse it, with clear reference to the original source.

Second: Publishing Policy

The Journal of the College of Languages is committed to the highest standards of scholarly integrity and internationally recognized academic publishing ethics.

Publication decisions are based on:

The originality and scholarly quality of the research.

The alignment of the research topic with the journal's aims and areas of specialization.

The results of scientific peer review and the referees' opinions.

The researcher's adherence to the rules and ethics of scientific research.

The views expressed in published research reflect the views of their authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the editorial board, the College of Languages, or the University of Baghdad.

The editorial board reserves the right to determine publication priority and the order of research within issues, according to scholarly and technical considerations and the journal's editorial plan.

The journal is also keen on diversifying its published research and attracting researchers from Iraqi, Arab, and international universities and academic institutions, thereby enhancing its scholarly presence and academic openness.

All published research is preserved in the journal's electronic archive and published via its website and approved academic platforms, ensuring its availability, sustained accessibility, and the documentation of its intellectual property.

The journal reserves the right to amend its publication terms and policies when necessary, in line with international academic standards and global indexing requirements.

Third: Editing and Publishing Stages

Upon submitting their research, the researcher undertakes that the work is original and has not been previously published, and has not been submitted concurrently to any other journal or publisher.

Research undergoes the following stages:

Initial Screening

The editorial board reviews the research to ensure:

Its compatibility with the journal's scope and areas of specialization.

Compliance with the rules for preparing research.

Fulfillment of formal and academic requirements.

The soundness of the scientific method used.

The editorial board has the right to reject the research or return it to the researcher for initial revisions before referring it for peer review.

Scientific Peer Review

The journal adopts a double-blind peer review system, whereby research is sent to specialized referees with scholarly expertise in the relevant field.

Institutional and geographic diversity is taken into account when selecting referees, to ensure objectivity and independence in evaluation.

Scientific Amendments

If referees request amendments, the researcher is given a specified period to complete them and resubmit the revised version to the editorial board.

Final Acceptance and Publication

After all required amendments have been completed and the final version approved, a final acceptance decision is issued, after which the research is scheduled for publication according to acceptance priority and technical readiness.

Fourth: Plagiarism Screening

All research submitted to the journal is subjected to electronic screening using approved plagiarism- and similarity-detection software, including Turnitin or similar programs.

The researcher bears full legal and ethical responsibility for any infringement of intellectual property rights or any form of plagiarism or undocumented quotation.

Fifth: Dealing with Research Misconduct

The Journal of the College of Languages adopts a strict policy toward all forms of research misconduct, including:

Scientific plagiarism.

Manipulation of citations and references.

Falsification or fabrication of data.

Duplicate publication.

Concealment of conflicts of interest.

The editorial board reserves the right to take appropriate action in accordance with international standards of scholarly publishing ethics.

Sixth: Scientific Peer Review: The Journal of the College of Languages is committed to implementing a scientific peer-review system as the fundamental pillar for ensuring the quality of published research and maintaining the academic standards adopted in scholarly publishing.

Objectives of Scientific Peer Review

Scientific peer review aims to:

Assess the originality and scholarly significance of the research and its contribution to advancing knowledge.

Verify the soundness of the scientific methodology and the accuracy of the results.

Enhance the quality of the scholarly content of research submitted for publication.

Provide constructive scientific feedback that contributes to developing and improving the research.

Support the editorial board in making the appropriate decision regarding publication.
